Hilary has been working as a management consultant since the late 1990s. She began professional life as a psychologist and her career covers posts in the civil service and in voluntary and public sector organisations in Brussels, the Middle East and in Dublin.
Hilary has been providing executive coaching to clients across the public and private sectors for almost two decades. She has provided over 1,500 hours of one-to-one coaching in that time and is a full member of the Association for Coaching (MAC). She is also a fully-qualified and accredited psychotherapist and a member of the Irish Association for Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (MIAHIP). About half of Hilary’s coaching clients are managers from the health sector, and she has a considerable coaching client portfolio from within the financial and technology sectors too. In 2019, Hilary completed a one-year course in Supervision for Health and Social Care Professionals and has begun working with a number of supervision clients in recent times.
With Masters-level qualifications both in psychology (MSc) and in business (MBA), she is comfortable working on a range of issues, including both personal and business issues. She works by listening, probing, advocating, inquiring, supporting, troubleshooting and encouraging an outcome-focussed approach. She is comfortable working with clients on longer-term strategic issues and also on the more day-to-day issues that can, from time to time, present real problems or even threaten derailment. Her approach is always supportive and non-judgemental.
For the most part, Hilary works independently but collaborates with associate consultants on larger or specialty assignments from time to time.
